SwissMental Health4Ukraine
a Global Grant Project by RC Zurich City and RC Harwich-Denis
- Our club recognized the value of supporting this project and has made a contribution -
Needs and Type of Assistance
- Refugee families are increasingly interested in better
integration (e.g., improving language skills, better understanding of Swiss
culture and behaviors, getting to know people from the wider community), as it
is now foreseeable that they will stay in Switzerland longer than originally
planned.
- As part of a 3-stage program, children, teenagers,
mothers, and caregivers, as well as teachers, can receive direct,
low-threshold, yet professional assistance.
- We assume that with the 50% psychological position, we can
provide support over 12 months.
The Project
- A low-threshold, psychologically staged support project
for Ukrainian refugee children and adolescents in Zurich—a support service not
fully financed by Swiss health insurance or public funds.
- In collaboration with RC of Harwich Dennis, MA, USA.
- In collaboration with the Clinic for Child and Adolescent
Psychiatry and Psychotherapy, KJPP, Psychiatric University Hospital Zurich
(PUK).
- The grant finances a 50% psychologist position, divided
among 2-3 experienced psychologists, with the aim of reaching families
throughout the canton of Zurich.
- The grant supports the training of "Ukrainian
helpers" for the WHO-recommended EASE group therapy program (Step 2 of the
project).
- In parallel with the grant, we aim to support the
integration of Ukrainian families with hands-on involvement from Rotarians.
